Newburyport ArtWalk planned for Saturday, August 23
NEWBURYPORT – The next Newburyport ArtWalk event is Saturday, August
23 from 3 to 7 pm and will have a theme of Art and Music. ArtWalk
events are self-guided walking tours of the nearly 15 participating
galleries. At many galleries artists will be in attendance to discuss
their works and exhibits of new works are being presented. Light
refreshments will also be available.
Participating galleries include: Bridge Gallery, The Churchill
Gallery, Child at Heart Gallery, Indigo Artist Studio, The Walsingham
Gallery, the Newburyport Art Association, Valerie's Gallery, Off the
Wall, Ferry Wharf Gallery, Connor Summers Gallery, the Firehouse
Center, Somerby's Landing Sculpture Park, Lepore Fine Arts, and
Chameleon.
Bridge Gallery - The Bridge Gallery will host members of the C Flat
Recorder Ensemble who will play Renaissance and other music during the
ArtWalk. The current highlighted shows are: "Boats, Boats, Boats" and
"Frank Winters: Digital Photography". In addition, the gallery
features a variety of work in watercolor, oil, pastel and acrylic by
member artists.
Chameleon - Chameleon is an ever changing collection of fine art, fine
jewelry, objects and whimsy. For this month's Artwalk, Chameleon will
be featuring new paintings by Donna Baldassari and new sculpture by
Lindley Briggs. Meet the artists at the opening reception on Saturday,
August 23rd, from 5-7p.m. In conjunction with Chameleon's Artwalk,
visit the Grog at 13 Middle Street to see work by Key West artist
Scott Gruppe…an exciting artist with Newburyport connections.
Child at Heart Gallery – Featuring original illustrations and limited
edition prints from children's books. Labor Day will be the final day
of the store. Come take advantage of specials!

Churchill Gallery – The Churchill Gallery features Juxtapositions, an
exhibition of vibrant new works in multi-media by Krista Harris and
Jeanie Tomanek. New works by all artists. Gallery Reception Saturday

Connor Summers Gallery - Acollection of fine art by contemporary and
listed artists housed in an 1812 Federalist building. Museum quality
framing services available on premises.
Ferry Wharf Gallery - In Concert with the August 23rd Art Walk theme
of Art & Music, Ferry Wharf Gallery will feature Art with a Musical
Theme. Ferry Wharf Gallery presents The Art of Music With Paul
Neverette, artist and John Tavano, artist and classical guitarist.

Firehouse - Lorna Ritz: Paintings & Drawings Through September 7
Reception for the Artist will be held during the ArtWalk. Recorded
Jazz music will provide the background.
Indigo Studio- Indigo Artist Studio presents guest artist, Melynn
Allen, for the August 23rd ArtWalk. Melynn will exhibit her fine tuned
functional clay works. Also on exhibit are a selection of paintings
and monotypes by studio artists, Mary Arthur Pollak and Lillian
Coolidge. Available too are original art cards, small works, and
giclee prints.We hope that you will join us at 53 Middle St. anytime
from 11am-7pm
to enjoy a noteworthy array of art and pottery accompanied by really
jazzy snacks, wine and music.
Lepore Fine Arts – American and European paintings from the 19th and
20th centuries in a gallery overlooking Newburyport's historic
waterfront.
Newburyport Art Association - The Newburyport Art Association presents
"The Fall Members' Juried Show" - Part I, August 22nd to September
14th in NAA's Sargent and Hartson Galleries. The media on exhibit will
include: Traditional and Digital Photography, Sculpture, Printmaking,
Fine Crafts and Mixed Media. All of the artwork is for sale. Lynda
Hartigan, Chief Curator of the Peabody Essex Museum in Peabody, MA, is
the juror for this show. Awards will be presented at an opening
reception, Saturday, August 23rd, 7-9pm, which is free and open to the
public. Photography by artist member, David Whitney,will be Featured
in NAA's Laura Coombs Hills Gallery August 20th to September 3rd.
Off the Wall - We will be having Guitarist Chris Martinez and light
refreshments.
Valerie's Gallery – Come visit our new larger location at 26 State
Street. New works on exhibit and light refreshments.

Walsingham Gallery - offers a distinctive collection of original art
and sculpture.
The next and final ArtWalk event of 2008 will be October 25 with a
theme of Art and Harvest.
Galleries are open year round and offer a brochure with map that shows
a convenient walking tour of all gallery locations in town. The map
may be downloaded from our website as well as picked up at galleries,
the Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, and various restaurants and inns.
